Shakespeare’s tragic drama, Macbeth, has been performed on stage all over the world and has been the subject of countless adaptations and interpretations. Justin Kurzel’s 2015 movie starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard provides a gritty Hollywood interpretation of Shakespeare’s play, set in the dramatic landscape of medieval Scotland.
But the tale told is fiction, rather than the true story of one of Scotland’s greatest kings.
